ACHIEVEMENTS

Lise Gagnon has been leading numerous projects in the Dominican Republic for a little over ten years. After working in the bateys of Cangrejo and El Cupey, in the north of the country, she settled in the batey of Baraguana , near the city of Puerto Plata, in 2005.

Its projects are primarily aimed at children and young people . However, the health care projects target the entire population of the batey.

Ms. Lise Gagnon's main project is the Baraguana Educational Center .

Inside the Center, several types of activities are available, among others:

 

  • The Preschool Day Center: This project welcomes preschool-aged children to do activities during the weekends, especially if there is a party or other special occasion.

  • The Adolescent Education Program (PEA): This program offers English classes, HIV-AIDS training, and more. This program is currently inactive but may be reactivated depending on the needs and availability of a facilitator or partner organization.

  • The School of Music: This program   provides training in piano, violin, guitar. In addition to music training, educational activities in music will also be offered in collaboration with cooperators according to their availability each year. These activities have existed since 2015.

  • The Care Program: This program includes treatment and prevention offering medical consultations by a local Haitian doctor, emergency care, pregnancy monitoring, free medications as well as health prevention activities. In operation since 2010.

  • The Batey Revitalization Project: This program aims to revitalize Baraguana (approximately $10,000 US), this project plans to repair and repaint houses. The project is expected to end in 2020.
