Pastoral project

In 1990, the Haiti Papa Nou Project began as a pastoral project at Plantagenet High School in Ontario. About fifty high school students spent a week with as many young people in Haiti to open their eyes and hearts.

Training sessions

Subsequently, teachers came to offer training sessions based on the pedagogy used in Ontario. Following their experiences, these same teachers developed various commitments:

  • support of a family,

  • support for surgery for a child,

  • school improvement (doors/windows/blackboards/benches),

  • sending school supplies (pencils/paper/rulers etc.),

  • setting up a sewing course (sewing machines/fabrics/scissors etc.),p

  • repair and distribution of hygiene kits for young girls.

Continuation of our various activities

  • A carpenters' cooperative was set up and tools were sent to them: generator, band saw, planer, etc.

  • In 2017, around twenty children are continuing their studies thanks to sponsorship.

  • We are developing support for street children in Port-au-Prince.

  • The distribution of clothing as well as access to a vocational course for some of these children are being developed. Schools, social clubs and Christian communities support us in different ways because over the years we have been accountable and have gained credibility.

  • It is also thanks to this approach that a lot of school, medical and professional equipment has been sent to Haiti each year, in addition to the suitcases filled with goods brought on each trip.
