ACHIEVEMENTS

Sewing project

â–º The Arts and Crafts Pavilion now welcomes 27 students.

  • We purchased sewing machines, tables and storage cabinets. Weinstalled curtain poles and lights.

  • Two solar panels supply electricity to the Pavilion and the Center.

  • The teacher's salary is fully paid by the Mireille Project, as well as sewing supplies, threads, fabrics, scissors and others.

â–º In Tainoo

  • The 17 women continue to benefit from sewing classes paid for by the Mireille Project, as well as the teacher's salary, fabric, wool and tools necessary for their learning.

  • A new sewing machine will be used by the women. This is in addition to the chairs, tables, cabinets and other sewing machines already in place, fully paid for by the project.

â–º In the mountain

  • Three locations, Dano, Faucher and Glaise, benefit from a teacher and will soon receive tables and sewing machines.

  • We made a large distribution of fabrics and sewing items to allow these young girls and women to learn sewing, embroidery and crochet.

  • On each of my visits, cooperators accompanied me and kept the children busy with various activities.

â–º Distribution of hygiene kits for young girls

  • We managed to distribute 350 kits and we promised to offer more to schools that request them.

  • We would like to thank everyone who contributes to the sewing and purchasing of washcloths, underwear, etc. for the kits.

  • It is a valuable item for these young girls who can now fully enjoy their day, not miss school on their period days and have better hygiene.

â–º The Children's Games program

  • More than 80 children wait every Saturday during our stays to participate in the various activities. With 7 cooperators, we managed to entertain all these beautiful little people.

  • Book and Homework Club Craft activities for kids and teens

  • Satellite libraries that distribute books and encourage children to read

  • When we left, a donation from TD allowed us to give a storybook to each child.

â–º Renovation and maintenance of the Center

  • The addition of shelves, the repair of ceramics, painting, etc.; thanks to the talents and collaboration of the cooperators, the Center remains a very safe and pleasant place during our stays.

  • It is important to always maintain the Center and the Pavilion, because the temperature can play nasty tricks on the buildings.

  • Solar panels help with electricity, but installation remains a problem because the panels must be installed very securely.

â–º Children's Playground Project

  • 40 tons of river rocks now cover a large area of the Bâtisseurs de l'Espoir grounds and the Bâtisseurs de l'Espoir schoolyard.

  • The grounds surrounding the school as well as the grounds in front of the Center remain clean at all times.

  • It should be added that we encourage children to pick up rubbish and that small rewards are given to them: small machines, Barbie dolls, sour creams, all these objects are much coveted by children.
